Professional Standards
IRPP maintains ethical and technical benchmarks, and credentialed individuals commit to upholding standards that ensure the integrity of the domain and to protecting the public trust.
The Code of Professional Conduct
Every RPP holder and member is an industry steward. The Code mandates five core commitments:
-
Integrity & Accountability: Conduct all professional interactions with honesty. As managers of public funds, our work must be beyond reproach.
-
Objectivity: Provide evidence-based, data-driven recommendations, prioritizing technical accuracy over political or personal bias.
-
Professional Competence: Undertake only those assignments for which you are qualified and commit to lifelong learning as the Domain evolves.
-
Equity & Public Service: Strive to design and operate systems that are fair, accessible, and contribute to the sustainable future of infrastructure.
-
Confidentiality & Security: Protect the traveling public’s sensitive data with the highest standards of cybersecurity and privacy.
Technical Bulletins (Domain Updates)
The Road Pricing Domain is constant, but the methods used to manage it always advance. To keep members at the vanguard of the domain, IRPP issues periodic Technical Bulletins. Curated by the SMEAG, these bulletins provide guidance on how the Four Pillars apply to emerging trends, such as:
-
Transitioning from Gantry-based Tolling to CV Tolling and/or RUC.
-
Integrating AI into dynamic congestion pricing models.
-
Data privacy standards in connected vehicle environments.
Ethics Review & Standing
Professionalism requires accountability. The IRPP maintains a formal process for reviewing the standing of any member found to be in violation of the Code of Conduct. Protecting the "RPP" designation ensures it remains a trusted mark of quality for employers, agencies, and the public.
