RPP Guide
Overview: Understanding the RPP-BOK
The cornerstone of this Institute is the Road Pricing Professional Body of Knowledge (RPP-BOK). Unlike a static archive of manuals, the BOK is a dynamic, evolving synthesis of the Road Pricing Domain.
While specific technologies—such as DSRC, RFID, or Satellite-OBU—will inevitably shift and be replaced, the fundamental Domain of road pricing remains constant. The RPP-BOK codifies the essential logic of user-fee systems: the relationship between policy intent, financial sustainability, operational integrity, and urban planning.
The Four Pillars of Industry Knowledge serve as the structural framework for the BOK. By mastering these pillars, a practitioner demonstrates they understand the "first principles" of the industry, allowing them to adapt to any technological disruption that follows.
Development Roadmap
Since the handbook is currently being authored by the SMEAG, the following sections represent the core components currently in development:
-
The Domain Syllabus: A comprehensive breakdown of the core competencies within the Four Pillars, focusing on high-level system logic rather than ephemeral hardware specs.
-
Examination Framework: Detailed protocols on the competency-based testing model and question architecture.
-
Fellowship Criteria: The specialized "Leadership & Prior Learning" track for senior practitioners with 20+ years of domain experience.
-
Professional Maintenance: The roadmap for continuing education to ensure an RPP’s knowledge evolves alongside the BOK.
Current Status: SMEAG Review
The RPP-BOK and its accompanying Guide are currently
undergoing rigorous validation by a Subject Matter Expert
